What is the name of your state? New Hampshire

My father in law lives in Florida and has a modular home with a mortage and other debt. He has a small life insurance policy that is made out to my sister in law to pay off a debt that he owes her. He has been diagnosed with lung cancer and will be moving up to New Hampshire to live with my husband and me until he dies. Will we be responsible for his debt when he dies?

& if there is not enough assets in his estate to pay all his debts, the/some creditors will just be out of luck. (I am assuming he has no wife.)
