According to our mother's will, I and my sister are
to share equally in all her estate's assets. My sister
is the executor.
We both want some of the estate's furniture, paintings, etc., and we have pretty much agreed on who is to get what. However, in order to ensure that everything is divided equally, we had the property appraised and assigned monetary values to each piece. Now, my sister thinks that
some of the things that I am to get have been underappraised and wants to get another appraisal.
My questions:
1) Can she do this?
2) If so, who chooses which appraisal to use?
3) Must everthing be reappraised, or only the items that
she thinks are underappraised?
4) What recourse do I have if she chooses to use the
new, higher, appraisal and I disagree with it?
5) If the new appraisal comes in LOWER, can I insist that
it be used, or does she get to pick and choose?
Thanks again in advance. You've been a big help.
