What is the name of your state? California
The Trustor died in November 2006. Estate taxes were paid nine months later and acknowledgement received from IRS in February 2008. Then the Trustee said that the estate had to file the 2007 taxes which were done on April 15, 2008. STILL no assets have been distributed. The family (heirs) are getting restless. Is there any legal recourse to make the Trustee distribute the assets?

Does the trust exempt the trustee from posting an executor's bond to protect the financial interest of the beneficiaries from potential theft?

Have all beneficiaries requested (by certified letter to the trustee) and received a copy of the trust AND an accounting statement for each year the trust has been in existence, as well as asking for copies of the tax returns?

Have you all asked the trustee when you can reasonably expect a distribution?

Your legal recourse is to file a lawsuit under Probate Code Section 17200 requesting the court to order the trustee to distribute. But the easiest way is to coax the trustee as best you can.
