What is the name of your state? Florida

If I get Durable Power Of Attorney for my ailing father, Will I be legally responsible for all his debt after his death. I need to get a living will for him also, but cant afford his debt and he has no estate.

My response:

A Power of Attorney doesn't make you liable or responsible for his debts. All it does is give you the "power" to do things on his behalf, as if he was doing those things himself. Your Dad is the responsible/liable person for his own debts.

So, if your Dad had money, you'd be able to pay his debts from his account money. But, since he has no money, then you can't pay his bills - - unless, of course, you want to dip into your own money to pay his bills.
