All parties are in Michigan.

My father passed a few months ago and I finally received a copy of his will from my stepmom. He left all his personal property to her and the remainder of his estate goes into a trust with my brothers, myself and my stepmom as beneficiaries. I am still waiting on a copy of the trust from the Trustee.

My question is in regards to the 706 Estate Tax filing that will be done. The Trustee (a bank) has filed an extension but it's in the process of completing the filing. The direct bequests made in the Trust will not be paid until the IRS has signed off on the filing. I have asked for a copy of the 706 filing when complete but was told that since there are items in the estate which are not included in the Trust (the personal property) I cannot have a copy of the tax filing for my father's estate. Is this correct? Don't we have a right to see the entire tax filing for our father?
