What is the name of your state? Michigan
My brother passed away on November24 03 All bank accounts and home are held jointly with a family member with rights of survivorship
The only assest held alone was a stock fund through an insurance conpany My brother sold these sharesIn Nov '03 but the check (2500.00 dollars)was not issued until Jan 2004 creating a 1099B form for 2004
Now I have to file Estate taxes for that amount
Do I file it for tax year 2004 or do I have to have a date starting with Nov 24 '03 the date of his death?
