My husband recently passed away..Now I'm getting all these letters from credit card companies stating they filing claim to his estate. How can there be an estate if we still owe on everything we did not have credit life on our home, land, or my truck. So, need to know what to do.

When a person who owes money dies, the debts do not die also. If and to the extent he had ANY assets, or gave away any just before his death, the creditors can try to claim them, and/or they can go after anyone else who co-signed or is otherwise responsible.

If there are NO assets at all, and no one else is responsible, then they write the bad debt off. But first they try to collect. Vigorously.
