What is the name of your state? CA

We're having an "Ex Parita" hearing next Monday to hopefully get an emergency Executor/Trustee in place until our full petition is heard and the appointment of a new Executor/Trustee is more permanent.

What is the correct spelling of this term (Ex Party?), and what is its meaning?

Thanks,

My response:

The term is spelled "ex parte" (pronounced "ex par-tay").

In the instance you describe, it's a hearing that is scheduled on much shorter notice than usually required under law, because something absolutely needs attention now, and cannot wait the standard amount of time for a "Noticed Motion"; e.g., instead of getting into court after 21 days of Notice, you can get into court for an emergency decision within 24 hours.
