What is the name of your state? California

At what point, once someone has been named executor of an estate, can he/she pay him/herself the executors fee?

thank you

Can I then ask, as a major beneficiary of a large estate, and also executor, what would happen if one paid themselves the fee right off the bat?

Don't you have to account for actions at the end of the process? If the judge frowned on such an act, what would the recourse be?

Just curious.

thanks

If you are hard up for cash, get a loan from a bank to tide you over unil you receive your executor fee. You need to retain a local probate lawyer on an hourly basis to provide you with counsel to get you through the probate process since it seems that this is new to you. Or at least find out from the attorney how you can perhaps get a portion of your fee paid now if there are extenuating/emergency circumstances.
