im in wa. state, my father would like to add a executor to his will without redoing the will,do you know what form he could attach to his pre-existing will so he has that covered?

Retype the document on his own word processor and re-sign it and have it witnessed, or return it to the attorney who drafted it so his secretary can do it.

Are you talking about changing a personal representative?

In writing the codicil, I suggest a lawyer.

If you don't use a lawyer, make sure you don't accidentally revoke other provisions of the old will.
