executrix fee

i am executrix of my mother's estate in california. what is amount of fee i may charge for this service? does fee come off the top of the estate total or after expenses-taxes, funeral, etc. are paid?

CALIFORNIA EXECUTOR'S FEES:

4% OF THE FIRST $15,000., PLUS
3% OF THE NEXT $85,000., PLUS
2% OF THE NEXT $900,000.

Fee can be calculated off the top or after expenses, whichever you prefer.
