I'm not a US citizen, live and work in New Jersey. What's the federal and NJ state estate tax exemption amount if I die in New Jersey and try to leave my asset to my benificiary who does not live in the States?

Death taxes

As for NJ Inheritance Tax, basically, there is a $25,000 exemption for property you leave to relatives. No exemption for property left to a nonrealative.

The federal exemption is currently $675,000.
