State is Florida.

My grandfather is very worried about his estate and protecting his cash/assets from his wifes kids after his passing, but he wants to make sure his wife has all she needs for her remaining time. She has Alzheimer's and will have to go to a nursing home when he does pass.

Currently he has an estate with his brother as an executor but he has no power of attorney in place. Do you have any suggestions as to things I may help him try to do so he can feel comfortable with this issue? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
