What is the name of your state? Illinois

My freinds aunt passed away 6 weeks ago. The aunt said she was remembered in her trust. Aunts son refuses to give information and claims hes taking care of things.
How does one know they are in the trust for sure? Does the lawyer contact them eventually. She said the cousin is trying to sell the house which also was in the trust.
Do she have to wait until taxes are filed to learn of a inheritance?
thank you
