this case is for the state of alabama. my mother passed away in 1998 and her father, my grandfather, passed away this year leaving all his possesions to his children. My grandfather was not married. will me and my siblings inherit what my mother would have inherited if she was still alive?

It depends on exactly what his Will said.

If it said merely, "to my children who survive me" no, but if it said "to my children who survive me, and the children of any child who does not survive me" or "to my heirs per stirpes", yes, you'd share what she would have gotten.
