My deceased father was a home owner in NYS. His Will states that his property should be split in equal shares between myself, my sister and my dad's girlfriend. The Will has not yet been probated.

The matter is complicated by a Judgment by Confession which my father signed 18 years ago in 1993. I do not fully understand the reason of the confession but it was initiated by a family member and apparently sealed by a judge. The amount of confession is over 700k while the value of my fathers house is approx. 150k.

I am trying to guage the validity of this confession. For example:

Is there a statue of limitations for this type of lien?

Is the lien still valid after my fathers death?

The initiator of the lien is threating to foreclose on the property. Is that possible?

Thanks in advance.
