My older brother passed away recently right before he had a chance to marry his live-in fiance. He had no will, and his ex-wife is now requesting certain belongings of his. My brother also had two children with his ex-wife who are now both over 18. Are the children legally entitled to items such as my brother's car and jewelry or is their entitlement limited to what my brother has them named for? BTW, he lived in New York while his ex and daughter lived in Maryland.

With no will and no surviving spouse, his children share his net probate estate. The ex-wife is entitled to nothing.
