For Federal ESTATE TAX PURPOSES proceeds of policies in which the deceased held ownership or had any "incidents of ownership" -- such as the right to change beneficiaries -- are counted for purposes of the $675,000 target at which Estate Taxes kick in to the extent proerty goes other than to a spouse.
