What is the name of your state? kansas

our mom married her second husband 1 year ago. at that time she had told us that her husband would become an equal beneficiary with us on her sizeable estate. this was fine with us; this man makes her happy and we are pleased she has found a man to share her life with in her 60s and beyond.

since then she has dropped a bomb and told us he is the primary beneficiary and we are secondary beneficiary on her life insurance policies. as of today she has not made up a will; but we are assuming that if she would die today without a will her new husband would be sole beneficiary. is this right?

since they have married he was layed off, and they have decided to move out of the country, buy a boat and take up residence on the boat. to do this she has already sold one home and she just informed us she would be selling another home.

we have noticed a change in her behavior. when we ask if she has seen an attorney regarding her estate plan before she moves out of the country, she becomes very defensive. we are concerned that our mother is heading out of the country with no will and with a sizeable estate with a man we know very little about. do you think we have legitimate concerns?

our relationship with our mother has always been great---we are almost like three sisters, so this is eating away at us. to be honest we are also concerned about her safety; is our imagination getting away from us; have we seen too many movies???!!! any advice would be appreciated, thank you

Hire a PI fast and check out this guy's past. I'd worry about her welfare, as she's going to be hard to keep track of to make sure she's safe.
