no will

What is the name of your state? ky

when making an inventory list what all do you have to include? a necklace that was bought for you at christmas from the decendent? my stepfather died with no will and his children are asking her to make a list of things. she has her own house and he had his. she has moved back home and only took the things they purchased together. they had bought furniture for her house for a wedding gift. does she list these things. they said she had to list her clothes she took from his house. we are really confused on this.

Have you or someone in the family filed for probate? You do have to do an inventory list but it does not require you to list each individual piece of clothing. Check with the county that they lived and died in to see if there is a probate file. NC offers a pamphlet on steps to take in order to file and complete probate. You may also talk with them about this. If it becomes too difficult and complex, a lawyer is needed to help sort out the problems.
