In my state, when a person dies...if that person has children from a previous marriage and the first spouse has passed previously...the estate goes like this: first 30k to new spouse then remainder of estate is divided 50% to children from previous marriage and 50% to spouse. Is it the same for North Carolina law? Is it similar and how can I find answer without racking huge legal bill? I did a search of NC law but not sure what to look for. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Can my lawyer in PA help?
