My father died in California in 2001. I feel that there is money or property that is rightfully mine. How do I get access to his will or who to go through to find out any information?

How do you know there is a will?

Has anybody opened probate for the estate?

If probate has been opened, you contact the court where it was filed and request a copy of the file.

If nobody has opened probate or administrative proceedings, look into doing it yourself.

If you know there is a will and who has it, you can ask the court to compel the will be produced once you open probate.
