What is the name of your state? New York.
Can anyone please tell me how to open an estate for my deceased mom, she has money coming to her and I will need to open an estate and be named executor, as I am already executor named in her will. I also have a sister who has been sick her whole life and is incapable of rational thinking.

Will you be able to take time off of work to appear at the county courthouse for the various probate court hearings? If not, then maybe you should consider hiring a probate/estates attorney to do this for you.

If you are willing to serve as executor, then visit the county courthouse probate court/surrogate's court to get the paperwork packet to fill out.
