my father in virginia had a severe stroke in jan. 01. he is still in assisted care, and medicare is about to run out.
my mother still lives in their home. Are there actions i can take at this time to save their assets from medicare? The home is their major asset and may be needed to provide for their care going foward.

This is one that a lawyer in VA who knows the local exemptions can tell you about. Perhaps a homestead exemption would come into play, but it frequently depends on the value of the equity in the home. See one -- it will pay for itself.
