DEAR CANDICE:

Power of attorney is not the correct term that should be used here, because it can't and won't apply. Whoever doesn't want to be administrator anymore can file a petition or letter of declination with the probate court, and it is possible that someone else could be named as a replacement or maybe no replacement at all is needed.

SINCERELY,
