Question

Question about having files released

What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)? I'm in New Zealand but my question is about files at a law firm in Pennsylvania.

They are files that would be very valuable to historians and researchers. The originator of the files passed on and they became the property of his executor, his daughter. She too has passed on. The lawyer who held the files has also passed on.
I would like to know who would own the files now, or if there would be a way to have them released to a foundation/archives now that there would be no "comeback" for the deceased or his family.

Do you know precisely, exactly what information is in the files? Wouldn't the same information be available at the county courthouse probate court? The daughter has heirs and you would need/want to seek permission from those heirs to get them to release the information and the request should properly come from the archives or organization that wants them.
