What is the name of your state?pennsylvania
Regarding my moms funeral expense -- do I need to pay it now or can I wait until the house sales??
Also - If my mom and I were both a joint checking account -- and when she died whose money would that joint checking accounts be??

**A: the funeral home dictates payment.

**A: it depends on if the account had suvivorship and if not, then if it specified a beneficiary.

im sure mom listed no beneficiary on the account -- so would it default to the one listed on the joint checking account???

So start talking to the bank and get your money.

And since the funeral home owner was kind enough to help your family in time of need, pay the bill as soon as possible and don't make a waiting period!!

thank you for responding -- but this is a messed up case -- i did use the money in the joint checking account as part of the share for the funeral home -- but now my sister is trying to use that as her part of the money for the funeral home -- i dont have the money to pay but i have my share down to 750.00 but my sister is stating shes not paying anymore -- we both signed the funeral bill -- and i feel we are both 50 - 50 responsible.
