If I am apointed a conservatorship for my uncle am I responsible for him as well as his finances? I basically want to know in layman's terms what I am signing up for as his conservator. He is not a pleasant man and there is no way I can take care of him but I can oversee that his finances are put in line with his health care needs (i.e., nursing home).

On the outside chance that I am appointed I would do the following
1. Get him into a nursing home
2. I sell his house and any other assets to fund his stay in a nursing home

What would happen if they (the medical or court people) decide he is competent and they release him from the nursing home. He won't have a house or a place to go. Does that mean I am legally responsible for him?
