SSI benefits and joint tenancy with rights of survivorship

Florida/California

My wife's mother and aunt own a condo in Florida as Joint tenants with rights of survivorship. Recently her mother signed up for SSI benefits in California and reported the condo as one of her assets. Now the aunt is having health issues and wants to deed her share of the condo to my wife. Her mother says that this will create all kinds of problems with SSI. Is there a way for the aunt to deed her share to my wife so that if her mother passes, my wife gets the condo, not SSI? Are there other repercussions? Oye- messy business.
