we live in california. my husband is the successor trustee of a large estate. the estate was left entirely to four charities and so he has to liquidate all holdings, real estate, securities, etc and distribute the funds to the four charities. He has been involved in this process for over a year now and some of the real estate still has not sold. he keeps track of his hours spent. there are no living relatives or any person who stands to inherit, only the charities. our question is how to be compensated for the hours and years the dispensation of this trust is taking? everything we read gives us a different answer.we don't want to overcharge but do want to be fairly compensated for this huge job, as it has really impacted our lives.
