    Time Frame for Probate

What is the name of your state? What is the name of your state?

    Pennsylvania

My Mother passed away in October of 2004. She had no will. The only thing of value is a home with no mortage or liens. A very small bank account (in her name only). There are two other siblings. Nothing has been done in regard to her estate. Is there a legal time frame to expidite her estate?

You or one of your siblings needs to go to the courthouse in the county that your mother resided, open a probate case, and apply for executor. The executor will be issued Letters of Testimony/Administration. Since your mother does not have much to probate, check into probating a small estate or family administration. Barnes and Nobles also has good books on how to do probate. The estate will be probated intestate (without a will). Until someone takes action, nothing will be done to settle the estate.
