I would like to know how long after real propertey in an estate is sold before distrabution to those named in the will? Is a time limit imposed or freezing the funds for a certain period of time? From California.

Thank you!

DEAR JACK:

There may not necessarily be a time limit.

If the estate is still open, then all beneficiaries are likely to be notified at the proper time that a distribution is made. All you can do is to keep contacting the attorney or executor to ask when do they think the distribution will be made, or find out what is the reason for the delay.

SINCERELY,
