time limits on wills

My father passed away in July 97. I was never notified. I am his only child and was wondering if it is to late to find out if there is anything I can do to find out if there was a will or anything was left to me, or what time limits apply. He was a resident in SC.

Check the Probate Section uand Wills Section on FreeAdvice.com website, and go to the probate court in his county and see if a will was filed.
