My Father passed away last month and left a trust. The trust states that his house should go to my sister and I. How do we go about getting the house in our name? My fathers property is in Florida.

It will take a few months for the trust's affairs to be handled.

If you know the name of the trustee or the bank where the trust is held, then you need to contact either of these to discuss the house situation with them. Find out if the house has been paid for in full or whether the mortgage still needs to be paid off. The trustee will probably be responsible for getting the title transferred to your name if you are indeed the rightful owners, and pay from the trust for whatever expenses are involved in getting that title.

If the trustee doesn't know what to do about this, then you should contact the County Assessor at the County Courthouse and they can inform you of what is needed.

SINCERELY,
