Uk last will and testament.

My father died last year and his wife is now contesting his will.
In his last will he bequesthed his share of the property (2/3rds)
to his children, with the remaining share belonging to his wife.
She has now contested the will seeking 100& ownership of the property.
Cash was left to my fathers children, and a small amount of cash
to his wife, but this was through his pension.

Any advice would be appreciated. We have already consulted a lawyer
and even though she informed us that she prefers to settle out of
court she has advised us to refute the claim, and then enter into
talks with my fathers ex wife. Seems a strange strategy.
