What is the name of your state? VA
My husband past away in 1980; the deed was only in his name. I am now trying to transfer the deed to one of my children. I'm told that the law currently states that the property is only 1/3 the spouse and the remaining in all the children. I was told the law changed in either 1977 or 1982. Does anyone know what the law was in 1980 in regarding this. Is the property legally mine to transfer
