my mother died two years ago and she was married to her 2nd husband for approx 14 years. They had a joint will prepared by a lawyer two years prior to her death. She had numerous bequests..ie education funds for grandchildren, several cash amounts for her adult children. the spouse decided to exercise his survivors benefits and claim the estate..so the bequests were said to be null ..my confusion...this was all handled by the same lawyer..could this be contested. can a will be declared void because of a survivor spouse declaring their rights.
