What is the name of your state? New York

I am in receipt of a Voucher and Release Waiver from a lawyer who is asking to sing acknowledging receipt from the executor of the estate the proceeds of that estate BEFORE the proceeds are distributed. The lawyer states in a separate letter that he will not release the proceeds until this is signed. What's going on here? I'm not going to sign anything saying I received something that I did not. What's your advice?
