my father moved from georgia to alabama last year, but he hasn't changed his will to the alabama property. does he need to change his will? what problems could be anticipated if he doesn't change his will?

DEAR JULIA:

He needs to have his will examined by an Alabama attorney to make sure it complies with Alabama probate law, or else it could be considered invalid and then his estate would be divided according to intestate Alabama probate law, which would still go to relatives, but probably not in the same exact percentages as if he made the decision himself.
