My uncle passed away recently at the age of 78 years and in his will left farm property to twenty of his relatives. Value of property estimated at $900,000. He had no dependent children. His previous wife of twenty years died of cancer. His current wife of less than three years wants to claim this property. My uncle provided for her in the amount of approximately $700,000 of various investments and retirement pensions. His residence was in Minnesota and the farm land is in South Dakota. Would it seem reasonable that she would have any chance of a successful contest to the will?

Thanks in advance.

When was the Will made - before or after the marriage? Was there a pre-marital agreement? If so what did it say?

As you can see, absent more facts it is impossible to speculate. But generally few will contests are successful absent mental illness or incapacity, or lousy lawyering.
