DEAR NICHOLS:

There is no such thing as a "reading of the will" nowadays--that is something that happens mostly on television, unless the executor makes special arrangements for that to be done.

If you think you might be a beneficiary, the best thing to do is to check at the county courthouse within 30 days after the person has died to see if the will has been filed in probate court. If it has been filed, you can look at it or request a copy of it.
