What is the name of your state? Florida

If a will was made while residing in the state of Missouri, and now we are living in the state of Florida, is that initial will still valid? Also if one wants to change the trustee, is a new will necessary or only an amendment to the original will necessary? If an amendment is OK, does that amendment need to be notarized?

Q: If a will was made while residing in the state of Missouri, and now we are living in the state of Florida, is that initial will still valid?

A: It is possible, but a FL attorney should look at it to make sure it complies with FL law.

Q: Also if one wants to change the trustee, is a new will necessary or only an amendment to the original will necessary?

A: Are you setting up a trust in the will, i.e., a testamentary trust? If so, the trustee should be convenient to the trust property (real, personal, or mixed property in the estate).

Q: If an amendment is OK, does that amendment need to be notarized?

A: Anything done in FL must comply with FL law; it must be executed with the same formality as a will.
