Georgia - My husband is heir-at-law in his grandmothers will who passed away 3 months ago. Once the will is probated, will he be contacted regarding her estate and assets? How can he find out if she had any insurance policies or bank accounts? The executor of the will is not being helpful. The executor is renting out the grandmothers house to tennants. He is collecting rent ona monthly basis, who is responsible for the monies received? The house is paid for and there is no mortgage or outstanding debt.

Probate

If your husband was the only heir under the will, he will get a distribution of all the assets in the estate according to the terms of the will at the close of probate. The rent from the house should go into the estate. The executor is responsible for managing it. The executor must make an accounting of all the assets before the close of probate. Your husband can see that.
