My father-in law resides in Georgia has been diagnosed with terminal lung cancer (smoked for 45 yrs). My question is 2 fold: What recourse does the family have in filing suit against the tobacco industry? Next, he has no medical insurance, nor is he eligile for medicare or medicade, he owns property and business in Georgia. Upon his death, leaving behind medical bills unpaid, will the probate court issue a judgement for all property in his name be sold to satisfy his debt, and what can the family fo now to protect the family farm from being sold? He has no other debts other than medical bills. And has been unable to work since February and is living off his savings.
Thanks for your time.
Susan
