What is the name of your state? NY

I need to do what my last lawyer didn't. It is my understanding that a owners prior knowledge of a problem area on their business property is 90% of the issue.
I need to check if any past or present employees of a company has had an accident in the same place I did.
How would a lay person check to see if a WC claim was ever made towards a Business and would it contain what happened and where?
