What is the name of your state? Florida.
A friend had a heart attack just days after starting a new job while lifting a heavy object. Worker had no previous history of heart problems. As this was new employment, he had no insurance. Is he eligible for workman's comp?

It's doubtful. He (and his doctor) will have to prove to the satisfaction of the workers comp carrier that his job AND NOTHING ELSE caused the heart attack. The fact that it happened AT WORK does not mean that it was CAUSED BY his work.

He can try to claim w/c through his employer but it is rare (not absolutely impossible, but decidedly rare) that such claims are accepted.
