First of all..thank you for any and all responses!! My question is this: how can workers comp not pay me for the time I was off work? This is kind of confusing, but, I was hurt by a broken metal cooler lid. It fell off and landed on my foot. That was in Feb. I was seen at the ER, and that Dr said it may or may not have a slight fracture. I was put in a walking cast for a month. Then WC sent me to see an orthapedic surgeon, who of course said that I was fine and able to return to work. I am not fine. My foot is still hurt, there is definatly something wrong with it. I was told that I cant "demand" an MRI, but I can get a SECOND OPINION. Now, does that mean I have to seek out a Dr. and pay for the exam?? Im at a loss. I swear that the people I have talked to with the WC insurance, do not care. They told me it was too bad basically, and they were done with me. I have worked all my life, I am a single mom, and I have never filed a claim of any type. I need help. I honestly do not have a clue of what to do next. I am worried that time may run out for me. I cant drive, stand or use my injured foot for more than 30 minutes before it is very painful. I have tried to forget it and go on, but there is no way. I am injured and it happened at my workplace. What are my options??? thanks so much!!

You should contact a local work-comp attorney.

ETA: You should ALSO keep your questions in one thread.

I am mystified here. Okay, you were hurt at work in February. You were off how long? Ever since then? You had a walking cast and were off how long? You were told your foot is okay. Does this mean you were released to go back to work? Did they ever tell you you had reached "maximum medical improvement'?

If released to go back to work, did you do so? If not, didn't they tell you you must come back to work or you would be terminated? Were you on FMLA or something? If you have lost everything financially, this causes me to think you haven't been back to work. But would you have the option of going back to work if you were able? Have you been terminated by your employer? I agree, you sort of need to run this by someone who is there in your state (worker's comp attorney) who can ask you pertinent questions and sort this out.

Bone bruising from a drop injury can cause pain well after a minor fracture has healed, but it's possible that there's no requirement you be absolutely pain-free before you are medically fit to return to work.

Apart from finding an attorney who is a worker's compensation specialist, you might want to get a second medical opinion from a doctor who specialises in workplace injuries and vocational rehabilitation.
