How long should settlement documentation be kept on file? I have documentation that belong to my father (now deceased) that is 20+ years old.

If the settlement has been completely paid out and the case has been closed for a while, I would think that you no longer need this information. If it was something that was paid out in installments and is still continuing or was recently discontinued, I would hold on to this information for five years from the date that the case was closed.
