I work as a dispatcher for a medium size limosine company in New York City. Business has been relatively slow for the last few months but has dropped off substantially since the World Trade Center attack. The owner recently told all office employees that he will have to cut salaries 20% with no change in work hours and that this reduction will be in effect until business picks up. There is no employee manual and no written work contract. The drivers that are employees of the company are not effected by this pay cut (yet). Can the company legally reduce salaries with no change in hours.
