self employees and worker comp want me to pay out....


What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?
new york state
I m a head of family, regular worker person make a year 25,000 a year, and I was unemployee for several month and a friend o f mine told me about some king of help for menor repair and make some money this week and other guy came asking for if he can help too and we said ok, the second day this guy fall down and broke his arm and he made lawsuit, but no one responde and he blame me and the worker com try to said I have a construction company without worker comp insurance, and they have hearing hold on 9/29/09 and they decide to make pay the amound of 1,939.96 to this guy, who I don't know and i am a worker like him. the worker comp of NY send me a lettler and give me 30 days to get back to him.
What can I do at this point, i can't affort a lawyer, and the money that i make is no enought to support my family.What is the name of your state (only U.S. law)?

So, let's be clear. You agreed to do work for another individual. Then, you brought on a helper to help you do that work.

You may really have a problem here. You NEED an attorney.
